In well-appointed 4WD luxury, our intimate party ventures into the Daintree and Cape Tribulation National Parks. Habitat to an abundance of species persevering in isolation, the Daintree constitutes the centerpiece of the world’s closest living counterpart to the ancient rainforest of Gondwanaland. Meander through these primordial habitats, joining Yaba Yabaju for an indigenous coastal habitat walk, or taking a guided walk at Cooper Creek Wilderness for access to the sacred heart of the world’s oldest rainforest. Depart Silky Oaks Lodge to the Daintree River.
Here, we embark upon our Solar Whisper cruise of the Daintree. Cruising silently and effortlessly, our expert guide will identify a myriad of wildlife inhabiting this wonderful mangrove ecosystem. Be ready to espy lurking salt water crocodiles.
After our cruise we continue to Jindalba at Cape Tribulation, a global marvel where two World Heritage regions meet, the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. Relax and explore this magnificent beach, before continuing on to Cooper Creek Wilderness hidden away in a private nature refuge. Expert interpretation is provided as we amble along natural trails, through magnificent fan palm dominated forests and beside the spectacular blue waters of Cooper Creek.
We cross the Daintree River to begin our return to Silky Oaks Lodge.
En route, we join, Yaba Yabaju for a uniquely hands-on cultural experience with the Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal guides. Experience a guided interpretive walk through mudflats, mangroves and beach habitat. Hunt and gather food, throw spears or listen to the stories and cultural history of the area. This unique journey boasts a rich array of World Heritage experiences.
